therapy style

  • Anuhea's therapeutic style focuses on the present and integrates several forms of psychotherapy that adapts to the unique needs of each specific client depending on their problems, treatment goals, cultural values, expectations, and motivation.

  • Anuhea uses a positive approach that applauds her clients’ strengths and aspirations, while simultaneously acknowledging human limitations and the many oppressive systems Kānaka ʻŌiwi are forced to navigate since colonization began.

  • Anuhea's understanding of Hawaiʻi's history, attunement to each client's ethnic background and cultural beliefs, allows her to tailor treatment to the individual in a way that makes them feel understood, validated, and empowered to make significant improvements.

  • Anuhea teaches mindfulness techniques and compassion-based skills that allow her clients to expand their self-awareness and self-esteem.  She believes all humans already have the intuition needed to cope with life’s challenges in order to cultivate happiness and resilience.

  • Anuhea's goal is to guide her clients not just to alleviate symptoms, but to sustain fulfilling, meaningful lives

"I went to Anuhea after the tragic passing of my little sister, and she was really helpful on getting me through my grief. Not only did she help me manage my grief in a healthier way, but she also educated me on why I felt the way I did, which was really helpful. Anuhea made sure to work with my busy schedule. She respects boundaries and time, and I could not have asked for a better therapist in my time of need. Mahalo nui iā oe!" S.Q.

"Anuhea is an excellent therapist. She was flexible with scheduling, always on time, and responsive. She was easy to talk to, non-judgmental, and really great at finding multiple approaches to help me meet my goals.  She has a comforting and warm presence that immediately put me at ease despite my initial fear of asking for help. Anuhea really helped me change my life for the better at a time of great stress and change. She gave me tools I will be using the rest of my life to reduce stress and anxiety." M.C.

"Anuhea use to be my therapist for about 4-5 months until I had to move away. During just the little time I had seeing Anuhea I absolutely loved her. Anuhea was everything I was looking for in a therapist. She listened to me, made my feelings feel important, made me feel like I was important even when I was at my very lowest in my life. She helped me find ways to deal with the things I was going through. She gave my assignments which I really enjoyed using until our next session."  A.Q.
